Man I love food. I love smelling it, being around it, creating it…and of course eating it. I’m constantly trying new foods or in my kitchen revising or recreating recipes from my favorite cookbooks, online recipes I’ve printed, recipes from my Nintendo DS game that I love so much or just trying to improve on family recipes.
For this post I’m sharing 5 new foods that I’ve come across while grocery shopping that have greatly satisfied my palate. It’s a Foodie’s Duty to share😀 So here we go!
Coming in at #5 is – Marie Callender’s Comfort Bakes Macaroni & Cheese. This MAC & Cheese is Soooo freakin’ Tasty! It’s just plain Mac & Cheese, no breadcrumbs to give the illusion of home-baked. It’s just plain GOOD! Back in the day, if it wasn’t homemade I was willing to settle for Stouffer’s (which is still good btw) but there’s just something about this one that has pushed Stouffers aside for me. Maybe it’s the added Cheddar they put on the top, so when it’s all hot and steamy, the cheese is all gooey and Mmmm Mmmm good. Plus if you bake it a little longer than it says to, you get that nice burnt cheese around the edges – my favorite. Would you like a $1 OFF COUPON on a Family Size? Here’s one for Single Servings Save $1 on 2. I was so busy eating, I forgot to pay attention to how much it costs. I think I paid a little over $4 for a Single Serving.
#4 – Trader Joe’s Frozen Almond Croissants – There is nothing better than the smell of something being freshly baked while getting ready in the morning. These Croissants are the Bomb dot Com! You let them sit overnight in a baking pan to rise & bake them the next morning at 350 degrees. They’re ready in 20 to 25 minutes. I like to toss them in while I’m getting my son all washed and dressed for Pre-school.
They come out so fluffy and flaky on the outside while the inside has the sweet surprise of Almond
Spread. They are finished off with sliced almonds on top. When I tell you these are scrumptious…I do mean scrumptious! Pair these with some fresh fruit for your own continental breakfast $3.99
#3 – Biltmore Marscapone Torta. I’ve never visited the Biltmore Estate, even though I’ve been in North Carolina for almost 3 years. I hear it’s really beautiful, especially during the winter holidays when it’s decorated to the tee with lights and stuff. Instead I just visit vicariously via The Bucket List blog. Anyway, this torta is supposed to be a replica of the delicious torta served at the Biltmore since 1895. You can learn more about the Biltmore Estate & Find a Store near you. I found this at Harris Teeter for $9.99, about the same as you’d pay for a good take home cheesecake. Top it off with some Chocolate sauce or Strawberries.
#2 – Izze Fortified Sparkling Clementine & Ocean Spray Sparkling Citrus – Tied at #2
Both of these sparkling waters are great. I tried both and can’t decide which is better. I know there are many sparkling waters on the market, but I’ve tried about 4 brands and can honestly say that the more juice content you have, the greater the flavor (not to mention better for you). If you are a heavy soda drinker and want a healthier alternative to sugary drinks then these are likely for you. Both of these brands contain 70% Pure Fruit Juice and 30% Carbonated Water. No added sugars or additives. Both are only 90 Calories per can. The Izze brand does beat out Ocean Spray in Vitamins & Minerals. It has 30% Vitamin C and 10% each of Vitamin B6 and Niacin. Both of these run somewhere around $3.99
#1 – Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter – LAWD! This stuff right here… is like…a jar full of heavenly goodness. Why God invented things that taste this awesome is beyond me. When you open the jar…you can almost hear angels singing. Every spoonful says “Eat Me!”. Goodness!
It’s just as the name implies. A butter made out of pulverized cookies. Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookies to be exact. Grab a jar for about $3.99. It also comes in Crunchy. If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s in your area, buy it online at Amazon! You’ll pay a LOT more, but…it just may be worth it.
